Runway bring home the bacon to Eastwood Park Theatre
The show is set in Yorkshire in 1947 and centres around Betty, an adorable pig who is being illegally reared for the celebrations of Princess Elizabeth’s wedding. It is a time of rationing when all are tightening their belts and having to do their best with a tin of spam rather than a cut of pork.
Ross plays Gilbert Chilvers, a mild mannered chiropodist, and Catherine his social climbing wife, desperate to be a somebody. Catherine originally hails from Yorkshire and has been keeping the rest of the cast on their toes to ensure authentic accents! Glasgow based Runway Theatre Company are as happy as a pig in mud to be producing this rarely performed show.

Hide AdDirector Robert Fyfe, said: “I was fortunate to catch the last performance of Betty Blue Eyes in it’s all too short West End run in 2011, and I was completely captivated by this musical theatre gem.”
David Dunlop, musical director, said: “Musically this has been a great show to do, there has been a lot of different types of music. There’s jitterbug music which is really of the period and there’s also a lot of really nice ballads. Some really tricky harmonies which has really been a challenge for the company, but I’m sure they’ll pull it off and it’ll be a really great show.”
Cumbernauld-based choreographer, Greg Robertson added: “It’s a real family show, really funny with great numbers which I’ve loved choreographing.”
Betty Blue Eyes opens at Eastwood Park Theatre, Giffnock on Tuesday May 8 and runs until Saturday May 12. Evening performances at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Box Office 0141 577 4956.
