British Gold Panning Championships Wanlockhead 2014
The annual event at the Museum of Lead Mining brought competitors from across the country to the village for a weekend of competition and fun.
And it wasn’t just the professionals who were going for gold over the weekend as absolute beginners got the chance to try their luck.

Hide AdThe championships are an event open to everyone and act as a yearly get-together of mostly British and sometimes foreign enthusiasts.
There were numerous categories over the two days with the participants split into Open Championships, Veterans and Juniors.
And even the youngsters showed that they definitely had an eye for gold!
The weekend has become a firm fixture in the Wanlockhead calendar ever since the World Gold Panning Championships were first held in the village in 1992.
