Boost in fight For Main Street
The Scottish Government Reporter assigned to the case dismissed the appeal which will prevent the developers from demolishing the old police station on Parkfoot Street and building a retail unit that would house three businesses.
The application was previously rejected by councillors at a meeting of North Lanarkshire Council’s planning and transportation committee.

Hide AdA full report containing the reasons for dismissing the appeal and refusing planning permission is available on the Scottish Government website but the reporter has outlined that at least one of the empty units in the town centre would have been suitable for a proposed retailer.
Kilsyth councillor Jean Jones said: “I am pleased that as a council we have made the right decision. We want to keep our Main Street.”
