Call for community groups to apply for more funding
Organisations based in Cumbernauld received just £6,987 in grants out of almost £300,000 distributed over the local authority area under its 2014-2015 Grant Awards Programme.
However the council says that the only reason the share is so low for Cumbernauld is due to a lack of applications from other groups in the town, and all applications from Cumbernauld were granted cash.

Hide AdSNP councillor Tom Johnston said: “I’ve been saying for years that more groups in the town must bid. We seem to lack the tradition of applying for council support which is well-embedded in the older,closer-knit communities of historic Lanarkshire.”
Organisations in Motherwell received a total of over £47,000 in funding.
