Cumbernauld peace memorial garden site found
Adam Smith of Cumbernauld Environmental Society said “This is a fantastic project and we’re delighted to see it progress to the next stage. With so many local organisations working together, and with plans to involve all local schools in the development, this is hopefully one project which will serve to further strengthen community links and civic pride throughout the town”.
The garden is intended to commemorate all those from Cumbernauld who died in military service from 1914 onwards. It is hoped that the project will be largely completed by July 28, in time for the centenary of the start of the First World War.

The plans were developed following a series of public meetings and discussions with stakeholders including local government representatives. Various local organisations will help create the park, including air and army cadets, Cumbernauld Rotary Club and the Royal British Legion.
