Developer means business
A consultation event on Friday informed locals of plans to build at Malletsheugh East.
If these houses are given the go-ahead, they will be the first of 1,298 additional houses proposed for the surrouding area as illustrated in East Renfrewshire council’s Local Development Plan.

Hide AdNewton Mearns south councillor Jim Swift believes the application by Mactaggart and Mickel is premature, as the LDP has not yet been passed.
He told The Extra: “I object to building on the greenbelt when there is plenty of brownfield land available.
“Building houses where they are not required would create an oversupply and stimulate a reduction in local property values in the long run.
“The proposed LDP is subject to a range of potential modifications and as such, I think they should wait until the process is completed.”
ERC’s LDP is awaiting approval from the Scottish Government.
If approved, it would make way for more than 4,000 new homes in East Renfrewshire.
