Hide AdThe bridge at Stepps has been restricted to one lane for many months due to load restrictions.
It’s expected to re-open around March next year. There is still a footbridge for pedestrians.
The Glasgow and Garnkirk railway through Stepps opened in 1831. It was one of the earliest railways opened in Scotland.
The original Stepps station at Cumbernauld Road, known as Steps Road, was the only intermediate stop on the line. It closed in 1962 and the new station, on a different site, opened in 1989.
