Wet weather has left farmers with slurry problem
This has made it difficult for farmers to carry out routine seasonal tasks, with many still to complete. One of the significant problems now facing farmers is what to do with slurry stores that are full when there is still a lack of suitable conditions for spreading.
Legislation dictates that organic manure must not be applied to land that is frozen (except for farmyard manure), waterlogged, or covered with snow. Any business ignoring this regulation, even in desperation, could face prosecution from SEPA.
