Derby joy for Bellshill while Rob Roy overcome holders Cumbernauld

Darren Ferguson, Scott Morton with two and ex-Thorniewood man Mark Daly got the Bellshill goals which gave Athletic hope of qualification after their opening defeat at St Roch’s but they still face two tough matches against Premier Division outifts Shettleston and Petershill.

Holders Cumbernauld United were beaten 2-0 at Guy’s Meadow by a Kirkintilloch Rob Roy side who now top Group 7 with two wins out of two and no goals conceded.
Kevin Watt and Danny McKenzie got the goals.
In the other group match Kilsyth Rangers entered the fray but lost their first match 2-1 to a Rossvale side who bounced back from their 5-0 thumping by Rob Roy in their opening fixture.
McBride put Kilsyth ahead but goals by Team and Gordon gave Rossvale the points.

Hide AdCumbernauld and Kilsyth now face each other at Cumbernauld on Saturday with both needing a win to maintain any chance of progress.

Carluke Rovers bounced back from their opening defeat at Gartcairn to secure a 3-3 draw away to Shotts Bon Accord.
Watt, Murphy and Smillie were the scorers for Rovers. Next up for them is a home tie with Wishaw Juniors on Saturday.
