When it comes to taking players on trial, few supporters will remember those who passed on the chance to sign for Rangers.
The Ibrox club have offered numerous players seeking to win a deal the chance to impress, but some names probably won’t resonate with fans - the likes of former Stuttgart goalkeeper Rouven Sattelmaier and ex-Boca Juniors youth star Francesco Celeste to name a few. How many of these 14 Rangers trialists from the last two decades can you remember? GlasgowWorld takes a closer look at those contract hopefuls, and where they ended up after failing to put pen to paper.
5. Georgie Welcome (2010)
Honduran striker scored a hat-trick against Partick Thistle in a bounce game during a week-long trial period before opting to sign for Monaco on loan instead. Started his career at Arsenal and retired in 2021 after playing for clubs in El Salvador and Belize.
6. Michael Stewart (2004)
Midfielder didn’t impress enough to oust Bob Malcolm, Stephen Hughes, Hamed Namouchi & Gavin Rae from the first-team squad which would win the league title at Easter Road on Helicopter Sunday. Went on to play for Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibs. Now works as a pundit covering Scottish football for BBC Sport and Viaplay.
7. Arturo Di Napoli (2003)
Formerly of Napoli and Inter Milan, the Italian forward moved into management in 2012 after hanging up his boots. He's taken charge of several lower league clubs in Italy and had a season in Malta with Vittoriosa Stars.
8. John Eustace (2015)
